Hello Creative Writers!
Here is your first assignment. Please respond to this post with comments.
What we are going to do, among other things, is post our writing by a certain deadline, and then receive reader feedback - also by a deadline. This is so that we can discuss, workshop in class, and revise.
As far as the kind of feedback, I am asking for your ideas. What would you like to hear from readers about your writing?
If there is one rule, then it is that you must comment on the writing and never on the writer. So, as my friend Dr. Whorton says, " 'This line is not funny' is okay, but 'You're not funny' is not okay." In other words, it's about the writing, not the writer.
So, please respond to this by February fourth. The question to answer is:
"What is it about your writing that you would like readers to constructively comment on?"
I would like readers to comment on the structure of my writing, to analyze the rhythm of my pieces.
ReplyDeleteI would prefer my readers to comment on how I can fix my writing and how to possibly make it better
ReplyDeleteI would like other people to comment on my piece with whether they like it, or not, how it can be better, grammar errors and so forth.
ReplyDeleteI would like readers to constructively comment on my writing if something doesn't flow with the story or if they have suggestions on how to make the piece better.
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff so far. Remember, everyone participates. This is developing into a terrific best practices guide for us!
ReplyDeleteMy writing can fall into clearly logical patterns. If this is true and this is true then synthetically this. I usually will wright about something morally, ethically, or philosophically interesting. What I need are people who will test the ideas by poking holes where there are weaknesses. Which helps me to not weed out what is wrong. When I write it's usually pretty strait forward, and I'm not sure how I'm going to be able to expand the ideas into full stories. More or less that's why I'm here.

ReplyDeleteI just want to know what you guys think of my writing. I'm very self conscious about it and cause of that I rarely show anyone my writing. Plus, I suck at grammar and spelling so if you catch anything please let me know.
ReplyDeleteI would like to hear that my writing has made someone feel something. I'd like to know how they perceived it because I've come to realize that everyone analyzes writing differently based on personal experience.
